Village Stewards

Mission of the Village Stewards

"The Village Stewards will help improve the quality of life for residents of, and visitors to, the Village of Gays Mills thru improvements to public spaces and items contained therein  as approved by the Village Board. These include, but are not limited to, creation of various garden spaces in the Historic River District (Old Downtown) and other public spaces as determined by availability, projects and funding."

Current projects include a public garden on the former Bell Lot on Main St. in Gays Mills & garden beds at the Historic Log Cabin Village that have added charm and color to this attractive public park.
Upland District
Along the East side of HWY 131 through the Upland District, the buildings are close to the highway, and abundant perennial plantings are planned to colorfully illustrate this part of the village.  On the West side of the street, there is need for the regular planting of trees along the road through the entire village where possible to help define both the entry into Gays Mills and to connect the River and Upland Districts. The West side of the street also provides stunning views of the slough, marshland, and rising bluffs to the west.
