Vendors
Vacant Main Street properties provide an opportunity for enterprising people to sell their wares during the busy harvest season. Apple Festival (the last full weekend of September) provides the best opportunity for vendors during the year. All vendors who sell on public property in Gays Mills are required to apply for a Vending Permit. Some Main Street properties are leased to vendors on Apple Festival weekend. View the Vendor Application and Guidelines here.
The WI Department of Revenue requires sellers to fill out a Wisconsin Temporary Event Operator and Seller Information form to meet the legal requirements to sell at special events in WI. This form can be filled out on-line at the link provided above. Please print this document and provide to the Operator of the event.
Arts and Craft Vendors and Flea Market Vendors at the Fairgrounds for the Apple Festival can contact the Gays Mills Lions Club for information at gaysmillslionsclub@gmail.com or +1 (608) 735-4667.
Alcohol Licensing
Download the Temporary Liquor License (external website). It is also known as a “Picnic License”. Please note that all alcohol licensing needs to be approved by the Village Board.
What are responsible beverage server training courses?
Responsible Beverage Server training is also referred to as the Safe Serve Certification or a Bartender’s License. These courses are required to hold alcohol beverage licenses, with some exceptions. They cover alcohol beverage laws, signs of intoxication, safe serving of alcohol beverages, etc. These courses are most often offered by local technical colleges. For further information, contact your local Vocational, Technical and Adult Education (VTAE) school. Not all responsible beverage server courses are taught by technical colleges. Other courses (see “Training” on the Department of Revenue web site) may be substituted for those taught at VTAE schools, as long as they have been approved by the Department of Revenue or the educational approval board. Make sure of this approval before enrolling in a responsible server course not offered at a VTAE school.
